đź‘˝ The UFO Caudex
Meet the plant that looks like it crash-landed straight from another planet. Stephania erecta is a rare caudiciform from Thailand, instantly recognisable by its perfectly round, potato-like base (the caudex) and its delicate vines that spiral upward, each leaf shaped like a tiny green shield.
-
Appearance: A sculptural, stone-like globe with fine, alien-looking leaves on slender stems.
-
Alien Ability: Survives long dormancy periods in its “spaceship pod” form, then bursts to life with an unexpected green canopy.
-
Care:
-
Place in bright, indirect light.
-
Water sparingly from spring through summer once shoots appear; keep dry when dormant.
-
Likes warmth, hates overwatering.
-
Stephania erecta is a collector’s dream - half sculpture, half living curiosity. In dormancy it’s a mysterious object, in growth it’s a miniature alien forest. Perfect for desks, shelves, or anyone who loves plants that don’t look like they belong on Earth.
Local Pick-Up Only - adopted aliens must be collected from the Bristol Triffids Lab.
All plants come with:
-
Growing Guide: A printed growing guide, with instructions on soil, light, potting, watering and anything else needed to look after your plant.
- Appropriate repotting mix/soil:Â A mix of soil or other growing medium specifically designed for your plant, so that you can easily repot.
- Bristol Triffids Nametag:Â A lovely mini information and name tag you can display with your new friend!
